January #Kinderchat Blog Challenge day 17

TGIF: If I ran a school…

Every time it snowed, I send an urgent email “Everyone must take an extra recess today!” Every time it rained the same announcement would be made.  We’d grab rubber boots and umbrellas and head outside to sing and dance in the rain.  On sunny days we’d work in our garden or find a shade tree to read under.  Crisp fall days would find us searching for leaves in our Nature Area.  On windy days we would build kites and go outside to try them out.  (I originally used the words test them out, but I’m a little sour on the word test these days.)  In fact, I ran a school, we would critically evaluate whether all these tests are really necessary at all in Kindergarten.

There’s so much to learn from the great outdoors in any kind of weather.  We enjoyed working together to make this snowman today.

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We’ll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!

  1. Wow, I love this and totally agree. I used to love to give my preschoolers the home work of, “go outside and play all afternoon.” I took this challenge question so much more seriously. I need to lighten up.
